In the Beginning was the Word

Sunday Reflection (No.6 )
By Susanne Timpani

'In the beginning was the Word...
The Word is Jesus. Jesus was present in the beginning, long before He was born in a stable.

...and the Word was with God...
From the beginning Jesus and God were with each other.

..and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
Jesus and the Father are one.

He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all  things were made, and apart from Him nothing was made.'(John 1:2-3)
Without Jesus nothing exists.

The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.(John 1:14)
God sent Jesus into our world.

To prepare the world for the coming of Jesus, 'God sent a man, John [the Baptist].'(John 1:6)

John cried out, 'I am a voice shouting in the wilderness, "Clear the way for the Lord's coming!"(John 1:23)

Next Sunday many Christian churches celebrate the commencement of Advent. Derived from the latin,'adventus,' it means 'arrival' or 'coming.' It is a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas day.

Over the coming weeks, can I be still long enough to hear God's voice calling to me? Are there areas of 'wilderness' in my heart?

Why not participate in the 32 Day Christmas Prayer Challenge to share in the journey towards Christmas?
